Silver fluoride

Silver(I) fluoride (synonyms: AgF, silver monofluoride) is a colorless crystalline powder with a unique feature: complete solubility in water, which is not found in other silver halides. The substance is hygroscopic and, when moistened, quickly forms colorless solutions with pronounced corrosive properties. Ecotec products are manufactured according to internal specifications and are supplied with a purity of >= 99% for laboratory and industrial applications.

1. Organic synthesis: mild fluorinating agent for halogen substitution, protecting groups, desilylation; used in Balz–Schiemann and Weinstein reactions.
2. Catalysis and electrosynthesis: component of electrolytes for silver nanolayers and solid hydrogen fluoride batteries.
3. Thin-film electronics: contact modifier and dopant for glass-like electrolytes Ag₂O–AgF–B₂O₃.
4. Optics and phototechnology: initiator of photochemical processes, study of photolysis kinetics of AgX systems.
5. Materials science: doping with Ag⁺ ions in glass-ceramics, creation of ionic conductors for sensors.
