Silver nitrate (synonyms: nitric acid silver salt, AgNO₃) — colorless crystals, light-sensitive, white in mass. Due to its high purity 99.9%, the reagent is widely used in the production of photographic and motion picture film, mirrors, as well as in pharmaceuticals and laboratory practice.

Safety measures

Silver nitrate is an oxidizer (class 5.1) and is toxic upon contact with skin and mucous membranes. Work with gloves, safety goggles, and in a fume hood. In case of accidental spill, cover with inert absorbent; collect waste in a sealed container and dispose of according to SanPiN 2.1.7.2790-10.
