The solution of trivalent ruthenium nitrate is a brown liquid. When dissolved in an aqueous medium, this salt also forms yellow crystalline hydrates containing 6 water molecules in their structure. The main application of this substance is the production of ruthenium-carbon-based catalysts.

Applications:
— precursor for depositing rhodium on the surface of a support;
— precursor for other rhodium compounds;
— for the production of exhaust gas neutralization catalysts.
