Palladium (II) oxide

Palladium (II) oxide (PdO) is an inorganic compound, an oxide of the metal palladium.

It is a black solid
poorly soluble in water, but reacts well with acids and alkalis;
has high chemical stability and catalytic activity;
in nature it occurs as the mineral palladinite (PdO) with impurities of copper and other metals.
Preparation: obtained by oxidation of metallic palladium at high temperature in the presence of oxygen.

Applications: used as a catalyst in various chemical reactions, including hydrogenation and dehydrogenation processes. Also used in the production of electronic components due to its conductive properties.

When handling palladium (II) oxide, safety measures must be observed, such as the use of protective clothing, gloves, and goggles, as well as ensuring good ventilation of the workplace. The chemical substance may cause irritation to the respiratory tract, skin, and eyes upon direct contact.
