Refined platinum ingot PlA-1, GOST 31290-2018

The PlA-1 ingot contains, per the standard, not less than 99.95% platinum, determined by difference, with total impurities not exceeding 0.05%. This grade differs from PlA-00, PlA-0, and PlA-2 in the permitted impurity profile. The coincidence of the 99.95% figure with the old announcement does not replace the certificate for a specific melt.

Purpose and applications

Quality control

The standard specifies for a standard ingot a rectangular shape, length 100±3 mm, width 65±2 mm, and mass not exceeding 5.5 kg; height is not regulated. Other parameters require agreement. Each ingot is checked for mass, dimensions, surface, and marking, and the chemical composition is determined from a representative sample from a batch of a single melt.

What to agree before ordering

Specify the mass, quantity, allowable individual impurities, and intended processing. The certificate must include the grade, batch and ingot numbers, actual platinum content, analysis results, mass, and year of manufacture. If the metal is intended for contact with aggressive media, electrical components, or catalysts, additionally agree on critical elements and conduct a process trial.

Storage and handling

Store the ingot in protected sealed packaging, avoiding mechanical damage, moisture, contamination, and contact with aggressive substances. Weighing, transfer, and processing operations are carried out within the accepted precious metals accounting system. Before remelting, check the marking and surface cleanliness; collect any residues and chips separately.
