Quality Control

GOST requires control of the chemical composition of the batch, surface, mass, dimensions, and marking of each ingot. The standard shape has a length of 100±3 mm, width of 65±2 mm, and mass not exceeding 5.5 kg; height is not regulated. Other shapes, dimensions, and masses are possible only by agreement between manufacturer and customer. Actual values are taken from the specification.

What to Agree Before Ordering

Specify the required ingot and batch mass, limits for critical impurities, the need for additional analysis, and the set of documents. Request a CoA or certificate with the melt number, mass fraction of Pt, impurity control results, mass, ingot number, and year of manufacture. Do not equate an industrial ingot with a bullion bar or finished jewelry alloy.

Storage and Handling

The ingot is received, transported, and accounted for according to procedures for precious metals. Protect the surface and marking from contamination, scratches, impacts, moisture, and aggressive media; use sealed packaging and controlled access. Before melting, ensure that the equipment, crucible, and atmosphere meet process requirements. Collect any chips and residues for accounting and return.
