Palladium catalyst 5% Pd/C

Palladium catalyst 5% Pd/C is a heterogeneous catalyst with 5% palladium on a carbon support. The material is intended for catalytic hydrogenation reactions and other palladium-catalyzed transformations in organic synthesis.

The activity of the material depends on the characteristics of the support and the form of palladium. Particle size, moisture content, pack size, and recommended application conditions should be specified when ordering.

The catalyst is selected for a specific transformation, feedstock composition, and process conditions. The active component, support, and preparation method together determine the availability of active sites. When comparing options, specify the content and chemical form of the active component, support type, particle size, moisture content, impurities, and method of preliminary activation. For industrial processes, mechanical strength, pressure drop, and resistance to feedstock components are also important.

Preparation and testing

Before scale-up, the material should be tested under conditions close to those of the intended process: with the same feedstock, at comparable temperature, pressure, and contact time. The drying, reduction, calcination, or other activation program should be chosen according to the documentation. Results can be correctly compared only when the loading and product analysis methods are identical.

Stability and operation

The performance of the catalytic system can be affected by water, sulfur compounds, salts, heavy impurities, coking, and overheating. Acceptable contaminants, signs of deactivation, and the possibility of regeneration should be specified for the particular grade. Spent material should be collected separately and handled with consideration of the active component composition.
