Palladium (II) Bromide

Palladium(II) bromide (other names: palladium bromide) is an inorganic compound, a salt of palladium metal and hydrobromic acid.

Chemical formula: PdBr2.

Some properties:

forms red-brown crystals;
is insoluble in water;
dissolves in hydrobromic acid and bromide solutions;
decomposes when heated;
molar mass: 266.2 g/mol;
melting point: 717–727 °C
enthalpy of formation: −120 kJ/mol.
Preparation:

by the action of bromine water on metallic palladium;
by the action of potassium bromide on palladium(II) chloride.
Applications: used as a source of Pd(0) precatalyst in various coupling reactions, as well as a catalyst for the coupling of aryl bromides and vinyl ethers.
