PlA-0 is a grade of refined platinum with a nominal Pt content of not less than 99.98% and total impurities not exceeding 0.02%. It occupies an intermediate position between PlA-00 and PlA-1 in terms of overall impurity level. The grade meets measurable standard requirements and requires a melt passport.

• preparation of platinum charge and alloys after calculating impurity balance;
• research processes where a confirmed Pt level of 99.98% is sufficient;

Quality control

Per GOST, the ingot has a rectangular shape, length 100±3 mm and width 65±2 mm with unspecified height; mass must not exceed 5.5 kg. Other parameters are possible by agreement of the parties. The surface is inspected for absence of burrs, flash, stains, and foreign inclusions, and mass, dimensions, and marking are controlled for each ingot.

What to agree before ordering

Specify the actual mass and dimensions, number of ingots, melt number, list of critical impurities, and required analysis methods. The CoA must link the grade and chemical composition to the specific batch. For manufacturing semi-finished products, additionally specify the remelting scheme, allowable process losses, and requirements for mechanical properties of the final blank — the original ingot does not determine them.

Storage and handling

Protect the ingot from impacts, contamination, moisture, and aggressive vapors, preserving factory marking and seals. Receiving and internal movement should be accompanied by weighing and documented accounting. For cutting or sampling operations, arrange collection of all chips. Protective equipment and melting mode are selected according to equipment technology, not just the inertness of massive platinum.
