Refined platinum ingot PlA-2, GOST 31290-2018

Refined platinum ingot PlA-2 per GOST 31290-2018: Pt not less than 99.90%. Item 5204498; impurities and mass per melt certificate.

Ingot PlA-2 per GOST 31290-2018 contains not less than 99.90% platinum with an impurity mass fraction not exceeding 0.10%. This is a distinct grade with broader tolerances, not an arbitrary purity designation. Previous claims of universal industrial and jewelry applications have been removed: the intended use depends on the batch composition and processing technology.

Confirmed specifications

  • Metal: refined platinum
  • Grade: PlA-2
  • Platinum: not less than 99.90% by difference
  • Total impurities: not more than 0.10%
  • Standard: GOST 31290-2018

Item number: 5204498. Actual parameters are confirmed by the batch quality certificate.

Purpose and applications

  • preparation of platinum alloys with consideration of the actual impurity balance;
  • remelting into general-purpose process blanks per agreed specification;
  • materials science testing and development of platinum processing techniques;

Quality control

Basic requirements for the ingot: rectangular shape, length 100±3 mm, width 65±2 mm, mass not exceeding 5.5 kg; height is not specified by the standard. Other dimensions are permissible by agreement. Each ingot is inspected for surface, dimensions, mass, and marking impressions. The chemical composition applies to the batch of metal from a single melt and is confirmed by analysis.

What to agree before ordering

Request the certificate with the actual Pt content and impurity results, ingot and melt numbers, mass, dimensions, and year of manufacture. Before selecting PlA-2, compare impurity limits with the requirements of the final alloy or product. If subsequent processing involves drawing, rolling, coating, or chemical dissolution, the result parameters are agreed separately and verified on a trial batch.

Storage and handling

During storage, avoid impacts, scratches, surface contamination, moisture, and aggressive atmospheres. Markings must remain legible, and packaging must ensure integrity and controlled access. Weighing, transfer, sampling, and processing are accompanied by precious metal accounting. Turnings, melt residues, and used materials are collected per the established return procedure.
